Fourier-tranform infrared microspectroscopy (FTIRM) can be a powerful tool to disentangle the underlying processes inside cancerous cells. FTIRM has become a valuable technique for examining the cell structural, chemical and metabolic changes at microscopic scale.

In this presentation, an overview of these cutting-edge radiotherapy techniques and how FTIRM can contribute to understand and improve radiotherapy will be given. An outline of other possible applications of FTIRM to guide cancer therapy at MIRAS beamline will be also presented.
